Should I be worried??

Ok, my DS is nearly 1 (in less than 2 weeks) he hasn't started walking yet he can pull himself up & walk along furniture but won't even stand alone should I be worried all my friends with kids all say he's taken too long to learn and this is my first child am I doing something wrong?

Chill. He sounds fine, your friends sound like nitwits. My dc1 was just like that, eventually walked at 15m.

Not at all he sounds completely normal. I think if not sitting by 9 months and not walking by 18 months GP will usually refer you.

Sounds perfectly normal. My son didn't walk until 16 months. My daughter is 13 months and not walking on her own but is cruising around furniture.

People are too quick to compare to other children and what their parents say they are doing or not doing. (I am guilty of it myself) but we need to remember all children development differently. Some advanced and some not so much. They all end up doing the same things eventually.

My sister didn't walk until 21 months - she's always been a little lazy though.

He will be walking before you know it!

Many, many, many babies don't walk till well after their first birthday. Hes already cruising, hes well on the way. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Your friends are surprisingly misinformed (or have selective memory) despite being parents already. They're not great friends anyway if they are insinuating your son is slow, even if they were right (which they are not).

Totally completely normal. If your child was unable to stand and weight bear at all then maybe a little worry.
My DD was a great crawler so didn't even stand up until she was 15 months then went from nothing to running very quickly!

Agreed, totally within the 'normal' spectrum. It's tough when your friends kids do things earlier though, currently in the same situation with DS's speech, and although I've done the research and his development is totally fine for his age it's hard not to compare him with others. Unless your mates are paediatricians I'd take no notice.
