potty training, fine without nappies on, but no interest with a nappy on.

My son is 2 years old and showing all signs he is ready to be potty trained, if we leave his nappy off it is very succesful and he will wee in the potty or toilet no problems. the only thing is that when he has a nappy on,(pull-ups) he doesnt seem bothered untill its dirty or he can feel its wet.Any one else found this and any ideas?

Dts were exactly the same, I found it helped when I refered to the pull ups as pants, not nappies, after a few weeks they stopped weeing in them.

sorry if I'm being really dim blondie but why don't you just ditch the nappies/pull ups alltogether (apart from nights/naps). If he's peeing in the loo/potty sounds like he's pretty much potty trained already!

Agree with Flumpy -ditch the pull ups, buy lots of cheap pants from Tesco/Asda etc then he feels like a big boy.

Pull ups can confuse them as they feel like a nappy, lots of nurseries won't entertain them (I am a SAHM but my sister tells me this!)

When out and about I used to take spare clothes, a towel for mopping up any wee off the floor of the shopping mall -again cheap that I could bin and not have to carry round with me in case of accidents. But I also used to take an empty plastic bottle (like vittell) that I could poke his willy in if we were caught far from toilets!!!!
