Starting to train ds2, who will be 3 in April, but if I leave his nappy off, he just wees in his pants! No idea, no interest in potty or toilet, if I put him on either he just shrieks till I take him off,- then goes and wees somewhere else! His language isn't that good, so it is hard to get him to understand what I want him to do. Any suggestions? Thanks!

He is'nt ready, try again in a couple of months

Will he just 'get it' when he is ready then? Can't remember from last time, it was 4 years ago, homnestly, these mums who have a third baby with a big gap ....

have been trying for ages to get ds2 who will be 3 to be dry, we first started leaving the potty in the front room, so it was there and he could see it, he got to the stage that he would quite happily just sit and wee on it all day and progressed from there. We havent attempted going to bed without a nappy yet, but it has taken us sometime.

LoL, yes he will, just keep trying every 6 -8 weeks, I did this with dts, and one day 2 weeks after my last attempt dt1 whipped off her nappy and weed in the potty, no nappies since. Does he tell you he needs to go? or show any signs that he is aware he needs to go?

I had this with my dd, i was heavily pg with no 2 and everyone was nagging me to get her out of nappies, i had a terrible time (so did dd) as she just wasnt ready, she was about 2.5yo too, then a couple of months later she was ready and i had ds who was 3 week old and dd was fab and actually came out of nighttime nappies about the same time, no accidents at all.

So i guess what i am trying to say is wait a few weeks and try again, there really isnt much point to carry on trying when they are not ready it is awful for you and them and very frustrating.

Oh thanks everyone, I guess I'll leave it for a couple of months, then.
No, he doesn't tell me he needs to go,- sometimes he tells me when he does it, or puts his hand in his nappy and shows me!!!! Don't you just love having toddlers...
