Arty birthday present ideas needed for a 6 year old boy please!

Hi there,

I'd like to get an arty birthday present for a six year old boy.

He's really good at drawing and painting, so I want to get him something to drive his creativity.

I don't want it to be a burden present, you know; "here you go kiddo, have these 46 colours of sticky glitter to spill all over the house".

He has a three year old sister so whatever it is should be safe for a three year old to have around the house.

He has really good concentration skills, so it could be something quite fiddly.

Ideally I'd like to send it by post and it'd cost up to £25.

Any amazing ideas?

Could you get him a subscription to something like toucan box? That way he'll get regular art and craft projects through the post and it saves you actually posting it!

Lakeland pencils there are lots of different ones including watercolour ones. Sketch book of good quality or a watercolour pad. I think Lakeland/ Derwent pencils will send them if you can't get them locally. Most good art shops have them.

Above idea is a good one especially with Autumn Winter on the horizon.

We've had toucan boxes and really rate them. Latest creation was racing octopuses

Now racing octopuses I can get behind!

I ended up with the the Quixels, I like the idea of them being self contained and not causing too much mess at home (some days getting the glue, paints, glitter etc. out is just too much faff).

BTW a spirograph totally fits with the "good concentration and can be quite fiddly". It's as fiddly as you want to make it.

Foam clay kit - not too messy but fun and creative. Our local art shop had a fab make foam clay monsters kit which was big hit here, so much so we've given it as presents for several other children now.
