As your children get older do you find yourself turning into one of 'those' mothers?

You know the type, the ones you midly loathed when your kids were younger.

The ones who used to smile sympathetically when you told them of some worry and they would say, 'They will soon grow out of it'.

Or 'Don't worry, they grow up so soon'

I am, and so sometimes mildly loath myself when I catch myself saying to some poor bloody woman who hasn't slept in days, 'Oh once they start to crawl they start to sleep better'. And I see that flash in her eyes that says 'Bitch', and who can blame her!

lol mb. Yup, I have been known to say similar things

We will be telling our kids, after their first big girlfriend/boyfriend dumping them, "don't worry, you'll get over it" and watch the look on their face that patently says "no I bloody won't, the world as I know it has just ended!!"

Ah....perspective .... hindsight ... wonderful things

But you see I never loathed that sort of mother, and wanted to kiss their feet when they said comforting things like, "It will get so much easier."

Now I say that to stressed mums of very little ones, and I mean it generously and not smugly.

But yes there's the smug type that's very very annoying. That "oh just you wait and see!" kind of irritating I'm-higher-up-the-ladder type comment.
