Nursery uniform- yes or no?

Hello all,

My son starts nursery next month. There is an optional uniform that is sold at my local school shop. Polo £6.95 sweatshirt 7.99 coat 15.99. I'm just after your opinions please? It's a forest school nursery, they are outdoors a lot then obviously painting etc so I guess I'm thinking that I don't want his 'good clothes' to keep being ruined-although I'm sure they'll wear aprons etc during messy play. They also provide each child with an all in one waterproof outfit when they leave the nursery on trips.

Would you purchase some/all of the uniform or none at all? He will be going three days a week.

Thank you so much in advance!

I'd get the coat, I'd then go to Tesco / Asda and buy unbranded polo shirts and sweatshirt in the matching colours to the logo ones. £2 for 2 polo shirts, and about £3 for the sweatshirt, and no risk of ruining his normal clothes!

I would regard th uniform as kind of like being a set of overalls. If you have already got clothes you don't mind getting dirty, stained, ripped etc then use those. Or buy cheap ones for nursery, which will be cheaper than the uniform if you get from supermarket. Don't get the coat as all kids having same coat invariably means it will get lost/taken by mistake.

I would get it. So much easier I think. I have just bought a lot of new clothes for my son starting and was just thinking a uniform would allow his good clothes to be left for good wear.

The uniform sounds quite expensive. Is it all logoed?

I'd be inclined to buy cheaper polo shirts and sweatshirts in matching colours from supermarkets.

I'd probably buy the uniform coat.

Don't get the branded , just supermarket own.
