My lo is turning 1 in a few weeks and I had wanted to do something at home but my oh decided that he didn't want the mess to clean up so we've hired the function room of where I work which is completely child friendly the only thing is there isn't much to do :/ I'm needing ideas for activities for the kids to do as I'm really struggling, the only thing I've thought of is I want a board where all the kids can put a hand print and parents or older kids can write their names as guests but as for anything else I'm lost any ideas are appreciated !! Thank you x

You could do a messy play kind of thing, if the venue is suitable. Buy some plastic sheeting and cheap inflatable paddling pools and have different sensory stuff in them. I've been to one like this where they had jelly, cereal, mud and moss etc with farmyard animal toys. Strip them down to nappies and let them get mucky sitting in the pools. Be prepared for some kids to hate it and not want to do it though. Or just put out toys, ride - ons, push-alongs etc?

There's no point trying to do anything structured for 1-year-olds, they're too little.

do you go to any playgroups ? Set it up like the one you go to.
Playdough, art and craft table, quite corner for books, general play area( farm animals, soft building blocks , dolls, kitchen area, ) outside area ride ons, bubbles , tunnels, cardboard boxes

Just a selection of toys is perfect for one year olds. Walkers, toy tables to stand up at that make really annoying noises, board books, rockers/ride ons. Ask people to bring all these kind of toys with them. Don't stress to much, one year olds are happy crawling/walking around a room and putting anything they discover in their mouths Smile

My friend hired a few little soft play items (ball pool etc) and some ride-ons for her DD's first birthday. The company set it up for her too.

Shakers, tambourines, bells - they love it!
