DS (2.9) constantly picking at scabs

DS has a couple of spots on his face that he has had for months now, that he just won't let heal. They're in awkward spots that plasters don't stay on, one right between the eyes so we need to be careful with what we put on it. He's pretty good at not touching them during the day but picks at them out of habit when falling asleep at home or at nursery naptime. We've tried every brand of cream and plaster on the market, we've tried plasters / surgical tape on his fingers but he just picks them straight off again. We've ordered special gloves but we don't hold out much hope they'll be any more effective. Can anyone think of anything we haven't tried yet that might work?

Ds2.5 has a scab from eczema on his arm that he picks at when going to sleep.
Thankfully it's healing anyway but I've just made sure his nails are kept short so he can't inflict too much damage.
Sorry if you've already done this, it's all we could do!

We had this with ds - gp (being seen for something else! ) suggested vaseline as it keeps scab soft and therefore less 'pickable' but allows to heal.

Thanks - nails are kept short as we can manage. Vaseline might be worth a go, at this stage we'll try anything!

DS did this until he was 6yo (sigh). Actually he's 8yo now, and I think still has moments... Drove me crazy & he still has scars. It only takes 30 seconds per day of picking to give themselves chronic scars. Chapstick worked a bit, too, you can give them a tube to apply themselves.
