Don't think my 10 month old eats enough

Hi I need some help with my 10
Month year old.

He wakes up in the morning and has breastmilk.

Then an hour later he will have his breakfast usually one weetabix or readybrek which he eats well 90% of the time. He is still hungry so I will give him a little bit of toast or petit flous. He eats great for breakfast.

Lunch and dinner he will just about have a few spoons of food and I am worried he is hungry. I will give him good we eat from potatos and veg and chicken or beef.

He is not interested and I am
Worried he is not eating enough. He will have breast milk an hr after lunch before he naps and then he will have breast milk at night.

I got him weighed 6 weeks ago and he had his 10 month check up three weeks ago and he had lost a few ounces about 4 ounces. Health visitor asked me to come in next week to get him weighed again but I am worries he will be losing more weight

I have no idea but I have never seen this lady before... She asked now many milk feeds he had and I said 4/5 and she said to keep it to three a day to get him to eat more solids

I think I will just stick to what I was doing and after posting this thread and listening to other mothers I am so reassured that he is okay and it's all about exploring with food

I was giving him a mix of lumpy baby food and our food before I saw health visitors but now just sticking to our food and letting him explore and taste and touch new food...

I am not so fussed now because I have found if he has not eaten at 1ish then i will try again at 2 and he seems to eat nicely then... Just going on baby's cues which I have always done

He has eaten much better today, he had his breaky which was two finger pieces of toast, ready brek then three bites into a banana

For lunch he had three finger slices of egg bread (egg soaked in the bread) and then a slice of watermelon

Need to think about dinner now

I think she must have assumed formula then as its 3 at that age (as per formula instructions) but bf they won't have the same amount and can't regulate nor will it fill them up for as long so have it more frequently.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing x

Going on baby's cues seems a good plan to me .

Your hv probably meant that if you want your baby to eat more solids, then reducing the amount of milk usually helps that. But that's usually babies that are guzzling down loads of milk and putting on weight just fine.

If he needs the extra calories and isn't taking them from solids then he needs more milk. Following his cues is definitely the way to go.

Plus those meals sound like pretty normal amounts for a 10 month old. My 13 month old DS is very active, eats well and no longer has formula. He does have extra snacks now instead of bottles, but that sounds roughly like what he would eat for breakfast and lunch.
