What age do kids no longer play with toys?
Daughter is 9 nearly 10 and has no interest in board games or toys .
All she wants to do is go on the Xbox obviously I don't let her all day, but even with me trying to encourage her to play she has no concentration and no interest at all and is bored.

What age should I give up trying to get her to play?

Ime 9/10 is the age where they gradually stop playing with generic toys and begin to seek out what they are actually interested in. So some people will carry on playing board games all their lives because they find they enjoy it, others will do it occasionally in certain types of settings (e.g. at Christmas, to oblige auntie), and others will never touch a ludo board again.

Often play is transformed into something that looks more like an adult hobby: so the child who wants to go on playing with lego starts building more complex models, and the child who enjoys dressing up and pretending will get into am-dram.

I think the way to go is to encourage her to widen her range of interests so she has something to do with herself during the times when you want to restrict her screen time.

I had the same problem with my 10 years old sun.
It's a disease all the phones/Tablets and the different consoles.
I remember that I loved to play with toys even when I was 16 -18 years old.
But today they are so stuck in their phones so it's our responsibility to realise them from this bad habit.
I personally use the article below that I find online to get my son and it's friend outside.
It was a success, I used some of the ideas from this article such as the Slip n slide, Ring Toss, Badminton and they enjoyed playing outside with each other for about 3 hours.
I hope it will help you too.

My older 2 boys are 10 and 8. They love their tablets but also like games, lego, swings, crafts etc. I took them to the park last week and it was lovely so see children my boys age and even older playing and having fun.

My 6 year old isn't into toys either , dreading Xmas . We've prob wasted. Thousands on things that just don't get used . It's a whole new era imo . Screen time is fine with us aslong as they get our door time/socialising too. It's just how it is these days

Ds is 9 and a half and plays sometimes with his Star Wars toys and Star Wars Lego but that's it. He plays outside ALL the time though and then uses water guns, catapults, goals, trampoline etc.

My older one makes videos/takes photos of lego/small toy/Sylvanian set ups which is a nice way of combining toys, technology and also maybe learning about film making/editing etc in the process.
