What can you do about it? Has anyone done anything drastic like putting in a climbing wall or installing a lock box so that you stop them from using them for a certain amount of time every day?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Limit the time they spend on it... Then place them in a safe or a lockable cupboard!

How much time are they spending on them?

MarthaElf · 06/07/2016 17:12

There are apps that mean they can only use it for a certain amount of time each day.

How old are the kids and how much are they using them?

Oh, that's really interesting. Do you know what they are called?

Theres one called Screen Time Parental Control by Screen Time Labs showing on istore although I haven't tried it. Put parental control in the store search.

I just googled and it says ios 8 has a guided access setting which you can set time limits on.

We had to change the rules to no iPad except on the weekend. At first there was a LOT of complaint, but now they accept it. You just have to be a parrot for a while!

Cold turkey - the soon forget, especially in the summer. I just took it away and that was that. Limiting time wasn't an option, it just made them whinge every day when I took it so I couldn't be bothered.

JackieAndHyde4eva · 06/07/2016 18:56

I say "turn it off now" and they do. Or they dont get on it for a week. I've never had to ban them for a week Wink

SisterViktorine · 06/07/2016 19:03

How old are they?

MrsPatrickDempsey · 06/07/2016 19:54

I use the ourpact app where you register each device then you are either programme the wifi to go off and on or over ride and turn it off.

My dc go through phases where they are glued to it as much as possible then they get fed up and it could be 6 weeks before its picked up again.
