Help me keep DD safe from her rampaging brother!

DD is 6 weeks old and outgrowing her moses basket. Unfortunately, she has a large, excited three year old brother. I need somewhere safe I can put her down whilst preparing meals / chasing around after the toddler.

What did you use for DC2?

Travel cot? I used mine downstairs.

We had a Hauck Sit 'n' Relax chair. Actually bought it for DD1 and barely used it but it was a lifesaver when DD2 came along 2 years later! You can have it as a low chair or as a (roughly worktop height) high chair. It has a massive storage basket underneath and two different seats- a reclining cosy chair for young babies and a padded highchair seat with a tray as they get older- genius! It was reassuring to know DD2 was safely out of the way of her over enthusiastic sister when I was trying to do household chores that required more than one hand!

I am a short arse, so I tend to fall over the sides of a travel cot when I go to pick up the baby (she can't sit up yet). The Hauck sounds like a possibility - thanks Today

Fresco bloom with newborn insert

The fresco is very stylish (with a hint of Bloomfield about it? I can see my toddler sitting in it whilst planning global domination of the chocolate supply). Where did you get yours, Helen love?

I had one of those vibrating chairs (ours was fisher price) fairly sturdy frame to keep him safe and he just sat happily watching whatever his big sis was doing - so many of his baby pictures are in it it looks as though he barely left it

If you're willing to spend the money on a Fresco Bloom then there is a newborn attachment for the Stokke high chair. It's nice and sturdy and consorts later to high chair and even a normal chair.

At least your DC2 has baby pictures hilly - must remember to take some

TheABC I never actually bought a fresco bloom as they are so expensive. I listed after one though for the newborn days but once they are actually eating it's a PITA to clean anyway and you may as well have an antilop.

We had a Tiny Love 3 in 1 Napper. Best thing I owned and I wish I knew about them with dc1. Lasted till 8mo.

Very MN of me, but my solution was to have the baby in the sling (stretchy wrap, I had a bamboo one to be cooler) most of the time. It also meant she didn't cry much, which was an advantage.

I second the sling. My 11 week old is always in it if I'm doing anything that requires both hands, otherwise the toddler would be heavy handed in showing her boundless love for the baby by holding him by his neck.

Put baby in playpen with toddler outside?
