Tutoring- how much?

How much would you pay a qualified and experienced primary school teacher to tutor your child?

That depends on the area you are in and what they are tutoring for. Round here (SW London/East Surrey) the top 11+ ex-teacher tutors earn £50ph and have long waiting lists. Average prices are £20-30. More for secondary tutoring. But it's cheaper in parts of the country that don't cost so much to live in.

We're in Manchester. We pay £26 for 75 minutes with qualified teachers. DS is doing really well in just the few weeks he's been going.

I'm secondary maths but do some primary sometimes too.

I charge £25 an hour.

Wow you are all getting a good deal! DS has a 45 min 11+ tutoring session that is £44 a week!

Are you in London Creme? 11+ tutoring does cost more because there's so much demand for the tutors who can cover Maths, English, NVR and VR and keep the pupils engaged. It's quite a skill. We paid a lot for an 11+ tutor and she was definitely worth it. DC loved her and she did wonders with them.

Not in London but super selective grammar area in the SE. Tutor seems very nice, certainly don't begrudge him the money. It would have been cheaper to have s shared session but there wasn't a group with a space we could join and actually I think DS does better 1-2-1.

Was wondering whether to offer 11+ as I've tutored my own kids through the grammar selection process. As long as parents don't ask for their money back if the child doesn't pass!
