Should we make the move to a bed?

DD 2.2 is still in a toddler grobag in her cot however she has now worked out how to remove her grobag. The past 2 mornings we have found her either kneeling/ standing in her cot throwing her teddies/ grobag overboard! Do we need to make the move to a bed?

She's caught me unprepared! I ordered a duvet, pillow, bed linen yesterday but it won't be here till tomorrow. She's always been really good about not standing in her cot and we've been strict about it with her and never let her stand. Do you think I should just move to a duvet in her cot or do the whole move in one go? Also do I need anything else for the move? Bed rail? She's in a cotbed so just need to take sides down but it means I won't have a spare mattress.

We're also on hols from next weekend so not sure the timing is good with this either! Wise mumsnetters help please!

We moved DS1 at a similar age, but I would wait until after holidays and make a fuss of her now being a big girl. We didn't bother with a bed rail as it would mean having one on holiday, at GP's etc. and they have to learn not to fall out. Spare duvet on the floor next to bed should suffice, DS1 was also in a cot bed so it is probably not that far off the ground anyway.

What is she going to sleep in on holiday? If it'll be a bed or ready bed then I'd go for the change now, otherwise like mumhum says, wait until you're back. There's no harm in her staying in the cot a little longer if all she's doing is taking off the bag and standing - as long as she's not showing a desire to throw herself over and escape!

We moved DD at 16mo and gave her a duvet. She loved it and only fell out twice in the first couple of months (not bad for her age!), but as the mattress is so low there was no harm done. We didn't use any guards, just put anther duvet down on the floor to break her fall. She slept much better for it too, as I think she found the growbag too restrictive.

Well we had planned on keeping her in her travel cot on holiday but did wonder if I should order a ready bed. Seen mixed reviews on them though so no idea what to do now. Guess if we do the duvet/pillow in cot this weekend then we'll also need to do that in her travel cot on hols.

Ready beds are great IMO. They are much lighter and smaller to pack than a travel cot, and take up less room when set up. We got DD an Upsy Daisy one and her little face lights up when we get it out My only complaint about it is the built-in cover is a bit on the thin side so I've always needed to either add a blanket, or lay her on top of it and cover her with her own duvet. I think it must be fairly comfy as she sleeps well in it too. We've had several camping trips, a festival, trips to GPs, and a number of nights at friend's houses for dinner parties where she's used it in the last year. No issues as yet!

Stick with travel cot.

Do pillow and duvet in bed.
Keep her in cot

Why don't you want her to stand up? Its pretty normal
