I don't seem to have much patience with DS (7mths) sometimes. Like this morning- he didn't want feeding or changing, he didn't want to play, but he did want to scream and bite me or pull my hair. I just get wound up and raise my voice, telling him to stop. Then i felt really wound up, and put him in his travel cot (which i use as a play pen if i need to hoover etc) and i went in the kitchen for 5 mins to calm down.

I should have more patience shouldn't i? He's going to hate me when he's older i know it- his Dad is all calm and patient and i'm a grumpy knob when i can't work out what he wants.

Some days are like that. Are you tired? The murky weather won't be helping. And being screamed at IS hard work, esp with biting and hair-pulling. He will NOT hate you.

Anyway, mums have to deal with more than dads - they just waltz in and do the fun bits.

You are not rubbish. It happens to all of us at points! putting him in a safe place for 5 mins when you go and calm down in another room sounds like excellent mothering!
but raising your voice is counter-productive and will only make you feel guilty...

Haven't been out of the house all week. He slept not too bad last night- woke 3 times but slept the latest he ever has- 6.15am.

He WILL NOT hate you, he won't even remember five mins after.

I have been feeling like this the last week. I think TooTicky is right about tiredness and weather having a negative effect on you. I have not been getting enough sleep, and probably not getting out of the house enough, and consequently I haven't the energy to play with ds, then he gets ratty...

Do you get any time to yourself?

i do get time to myself, i mean DS goes to bed 6.30pm, so we can eat / watch TV or something. I'm going to have lunch lunch with my friend, get my hair done and get some more tattoo work tomorrow, so i'll be out most of the day. And then i'll feel guilty about leaving him with DP all day- and i know i'll make all his meals and bottles in advance and put them in the fridge for DP to make myself feel better!

I can't believe it's Friday and i haven't been out of the front door all week Maybe i'm going stir crazy.

Probably one of the most frustrating things, DG, when you cant for the hell of you work out what they want and you have offered everything.

If you havent been out all week your patience levels are bound to be limited. How come?

Dont feel bad - I get the feeling this is not a regular thing for you even if you are less patient natured than your dh. Mums are human beings first and foremost we cant change our very natures just because when we were pg we imagined we would be the perfect mummy

i feel better now than i did earlier. We've had a good tickle and a nice play...from now on i will count to 10 or leave the room again.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought that over the last few years. Leaving the room is a great thing to do - it's when they're older and they try to follow you and there is nowhere to hide for 5 minutes that it becomes even harder. I definitely find that feeling is worse when I've been stuck in the house all week - sometimes if I sense a bad day ahead I just get us all out and it helps hugely.

Hey babe - step back, deep breath, give yourself a pat on the back for the fabby brill things u actuallu do. Remember the laughs, times u juggle all the tasks!!!

try get out more, bit fresh air cheer yourself up.

i like to go to Boots any chemist and have a spray of all the testers, bob of all the handcreams, wee dab of lippy gloss...and its free...and u get to swan about smelling nice too
