Nursery mums - please remind me that DS2 will be fine. Having a wobble.

Ds2 starts nursery next week. 4 days a week. He is almost 11mo.

His older brother (3.6) goes to the same nursery, and has done since 11mo so you would think this would be a breeze, right?!

Nope. I feel worried and sad about it. I don't like the thought of leaving my baby 🙁 He seems so young.

Please can other nursery-using mums reassure me that he will be fine and tell me to get a grip?!?

My 16 month old started nursery at 6 and half months. I dropped her off then went into my class of reception children starting that day. Had a good aul cry in the staff toilets at lunch I tell you.. Now she runs in every morning and doesn't look up when I come in! I have full confidence in her minders and she is Happy. Don't worry will all be fine.

My DS started at just over a year and loved it. The first couple of weeks involved a few tears, but nursery were great and sent me photos of him happily playing which was reassuring. Within a very short space of time he was really happy and used to do an excited dance in the car when we were almost there! Hope it goes ok, and that he settled quickly.

My DS started at 7 months and didn't even notice I'd gone. He wobbled a bit at about a year (when I think he started to realise I was leaving him) and I used to cry all the way to work but it didn't last long. 3 weeks maybe. He does 3 full days. And now at 2.4 he asks every morning is it a nursery day and does his sad face when I say no. He runs in and doesn't even wave goodbye!

I've got my 15 month old and 3.5 year old in the same nursery. They both started when they were 11 months too. They're in for 3.5 days a week. I sometimes feel guilty/upset/unsure that I'm doing the right thing. But they love it. And the older one is really good at socialising with others his age - I've got no worries about him starting school.

My DD has gone to nursery 3/4 days a week since she was 8mo (I changed jobs so had to up it a day).

The first week back from maternity was awful; she cried, I cried, I thought I was going to have to quit work (maybe a little dramatic haha). After a few unsettled days she was absolutely fine and we've never had any problems since. She'll be leaving to start school in September and now I'm upset because I don't want to her leave!

The first week or so might be a little tough for you both but it's worth it so that you can keep your sanity by going back to work and your DS gets to be in an environment where he will be stimulated and make lots of little friends.

It's totally normal to worry and not want to leave your baby but you will both be fine
