Sorry if this is gross but...

do you let your babies/children see you poo?
I never had until today when dd (15 months)was really clingy so didn't want to close the door on her.
Confessed slightly shamefacedly to dp who said, oh I always let her watch, she often waves bye bye to the poo when I flush!
Then I spoke to my SIL who said, Oh God, I haven;t had a shit alone for four years!!
Is this normal???

Sometimes there is no choice......

GhostOfMumsnet · 18/01/2007 17:17

yeh, tbh. They've never waved at it though. They usually just follow me in and chat with me, as they do wherever I am in the house.

misdee · 18/01/2007 17:19

i havent been to my loo on my own for almost 7 years. oh to poo in private.

in public loos dd2 shouts 'MUM ARE YOU DOING A BIG SMELLY POO?' and all i hear is giggles from the other cubicles.

I can think of a dozen far, far, far, more gross stories involving poo, don't get me started....

SparklyGothKat · 18/01/2007 18:34

my dd2 can unlock my loo from the outside and the amount of times I have been sitting there and she has suddenly opened the door wide!! Haven't pooed in peace for 9 years now....

Bekks · 18/01/2007 18:40

Yep I do too, although really she doesn't take much or any notice, she's too busy doing something else (dd is 3)

mummymic · 18/01/2007 18:41

can beat that folks - not pooed alone for 18 years now!!!!! my 18 year old ds1 will think nothing of have#ing a shower whilst i am on the loo -i am afforded no privacy whatsoever in my house- dd1 (2.6) and dogs comein if they can too!! roll on when ds2 (8mmonths comes in too - they can all have a picnic!

PersonalClown · 18/01/2007 18:45

Same here. Ds just has to see where I am and what I'm doing!!

DetentionGrrrl · 18/01/2007 19:01

who cares?! you pushed her out of your genitals, and you've seen her poo a million times! tis just poo!

harpsichordcarrier · 18/01/2007 19:03

the only person who gets to poo in private in this house is dh
if one of th girls tries to go in with him he says in a slightly panicky voice "I am going in the toilet!!!"
this excuse does not work with me, unfortunately

wurlywurly · 18/01/2007 19:04

i think it one of the luxuries you give up when you have children.

buktus · 18/01/2007 19:04

havent been on my own for 5 years now

mamama · 18/01/2007 19:12

I always have company. And yes, DS waves bye bye

LucyJones · 18/01/2007 19:15

mummymic - I think an 18 year old being in the same room is taking it a bit too far!!!

IdrisTheDragon · 18/01/2007 19:15

DH manages to wee and poo on his own.

If either DS or DD are around I never seem to manage to be on my own.

Although DS will send us out if he is pooing "Go in different room" he says. Maybe it is a male thing?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 18/01/2007 19:23

Hah! I cant close the door either. Am utterly used to it now. I actually have to remember to shut the bathroom door when we have guests, and often forget to

DP tries to demand privacy, but, the way I see it, if I cant have privacy throughout the day going to the loo (not that I care a jot tbh), then he isnt either .

Admittedly its difficult for him if he is having a wee adn DS is there because DS likes to bend around in front of him and tries to catch it, pmsl!

pinkdolly · 18/01/2007 19:24

I very seldom go to the toilet alone. Only seem to get half way up the stairs and it's...

"MUMMY WHERE R U?"

Nothing is sacred in our house, least of all having a poo!

tissy · 18/01/2007 19:31

I do manage to poo alone but only because I get up at 5.30 and the others don't waken till at least 6.15!

Dh however manages to spend at least half an hour locked in the bathroom without company

NannyL · 18/01/2007 19:40

not a mum.... and im quite used to having an audiance in the toilet

especially as the lock has been removed when my 13 month old charge (whoo couldnt even walk) managed to lock himslef in the toilet....

today he (now 17 months) was having a HUGE tantrum... in order to ignoer him (as he was follwiwng me and screaming) i locked myself in the playroom!

mummydear · 18/01/2007 19:54

I think the only time I have been left alone in the toilet is when I locked myslef in in desperation to get away from the kids whilst I had an important phone call to make !!

Usually in public toilets its 'MUMMY ARE YOU HAVING A POO OR A WEE ?'

err, 11 years for me...

totaleclipse · 18/01/2007 20:19

DTS are pretty helpful actually, they pass me the loo roll and flush when I'm done
