About to go back to work and leave 4 month old DS with nanny (I'm abroad in Central Asia). now contemplating whether to ask work for either a 4 day week or working one day at home (probably they won't allow the working from home option).

Grateful for anyone's experiences with either option: I hate the idea of leaving him, but want to work nearly full time (I have very regular 9 to 5 type hours and DH will be with him in the mornings till 11 or 12, so it's not too bad..

4 day week

I'd go for a four day work, I work 3 days and do some work from home but it is very hard to work at home with dd about - she wants to join in and has learnt how to turn off the computer so I end up doing some work in the evenings instead.

I'd have the nanny there anyway, and he is only 3 months... hmm. will maybe try full time, and if it's too agonising ttry another solution, thanks!

I work 4 days (Mon-Thurs); it's a sort of compromise and doesn't makes me feel so sad about not being with her more.

I work full time, but with 1 day at home. Kids are still at nursery on that day so I can get work done. But, it allows me to pick them up earlier and take dd1 to her ballet lesson whilst I play with dd2. I can also catch up on odd chores such as hang up the washing during my breaks. I wanted to only work 4 days, but wasn't allowed to. This is my compromise. It works though. I went back to work almost a year ago after having dd2.
