I just don't get it. My husbands family speak to our 8m old baby in such ridiculous language. Why say:

'Hi 'dare, is the ickle baba going in the brum brum?'

Why not just say the correct names/words with correct syllables!? He will have to learn them at some point so why not give him a head start and say them to begin with?! I don't mind silly voices so much but the language is stupid. So irritating! (I am very sleep deprived too which doesn't help).

The amount they see him I guess it's not s huge problem apart from the fact my husband keeps doing it too now! I'm trying to be tactful but he doesn't seem to be bothered. Am I the one being ridiculous?

My parents say "brum brum" and "woof woof" to my 2 year old - I just politely correct them and say he knows the real words.
