Droile - you could try some pear puree, bland but babies seem to like it. My ds liked fruit puree better than baby rice. I ended up using the rice to thicken things in the end, rather than as a food in its own right. Also, apple puree is usually a favourite.

Yet another one of those days where ds is a total pain in the butt, ignores me completely when I ask him not to do something and checks that I'm looking before he is naughty again. AAAAGH. Spent day with friends and their kids who agreed that he was being an absolute little xxxxxx and definitely trying it on big time. Fortunately ds fell asleep on way home. Am now completely drained both emotionally and physically.

Thanks chinchilla. Haven't had the energy to do any of that tonight, but worth a try tomorrow. I seem to have forgotten ds1's weaning days totally.

Willow2, if he's anything like mine he'll come out the other side of this with some amazing new skill - my theory is that this horrible behaviour seems to herald a 'growth' spurt of some sort.

Droile, baby rice disagreed with my dd too. She was much happier on proper purees, and then I started to mix in cooked white rice. Best of luck, I think that you have done so well in very difficult circumstances - I gave up b/f after a week.

kkgirl - hope that you have had a better day.

Willow2 - hope that tomorrow is better!

Enid - someone else said just the same thing to me today, am keeping fingers crossed. Ionesmum, again, fingers crossed. Am really not enjoying this much at present.

Baby rice with apple has gone down well so far today. Perhaps we're winning.

Just a quick message to anyone who helped me on this thread a few weeks ago. I think I must have recovered from some kind of nightmarish abberation, as reading my earlier posts is like reading the words of a different person. The stresses and strains are still here, but I couldn't contemplate being separated from my boys, not even for a brief 'holiday'. I've just watched Casualty, and while understanding the desperation of the girl who's left her baby in the department store, every cell in my brain shrieked 'no! Don't leave your baby!'
I think I must be winning now.

Droile, that is good news. I agree with sobernow - you can often revisit old threads on here and think, boy, was I going through a bad patch there. So glad you feel you are on the way out of yours.
