I aim for 8. Have to be up 6:40 am on school days. Wondering if should bring forward bedtime as sometimes hard to wake her .....

We aim for being in bed for 7.30 but DD might still be in the other room playing on tablet and I am just going to get off MN and take her to bed now coz I was eating my tea in peace after getting home late from work Blush

Rarely before 8. We get in at 5.30 at the earliest and between tea, reading, homework, downtime, bath time, playtime and her 7yo brother, it just doesn't happen any earlier. More and more she seems to stay up and read anyway, like DS who is rarely asleep before 10pm.

Both bounce out of bed by 7, except on weekends when it is more like 6 Hmm I blame DH and his bloody larklike genes.

DD is a July baby too! She is tired, but just doesn't seem to want or be able to submit to more sleep than she gets. Twas ever thus

Mines usually in bed by 7pm-ish and asleep anytime from 7.05pm to 8pm. He wakes up at 6.30am but we don't need to be up until 7.45am! He & his little sister used to be in bed by 6.30pm but they need slightly less sleep now (the 2 yo apparently needs less than him!)

I take DD, aged 5, to bed at 6.30pm and we read and chat until about 8pm. Lights out at just after 8pm but usually not asleep until 8.30pm. My DD2 is aged 3 and is exactly the same...They share a double bed and share the same routine. Both wake up at about 7am, if not once or twice during the night as well. I can't believe some of these early bed times of 6.30 or 7pm. We sometimes don't have tea until 6.30 never mind bed! Same at his dad's house.
Mine is 6yrs old, in year 1. Be lucky if he is asleep at 8.30, sometimes it gets passed 9pm and he still wakes at 7.30 for school, the odd occasion I have to wake him. In reception it was similar about 8pm.

I've tried the whole early bedtime but it doesn't work, he's still awake and comes downstairs or shouts he's not tired. He's never been a heavy long sleeper. Also with flitting between mine and his dad's he's had to get used to various routines since 14months so it doesn't bother him. He would keep going til 11pm if I let him. Though I think he takes after me, I can mange with 5-6 hrs sleep.

My 5 year old goes between 7 and 7.30. I personally think if you are having to regularly wake your child they are not getting enough sleep. Mine all wake up naturally between 6.30 and 7.30 and it's very rare I have to wake them (usually only when had a late night or a bit under the weather).
