leaky nappies - help please!

Anyone got any advice on how to prevent my 6 month old son's nappies leaking - he regularly gets woken up twice a night by leaky nappies, needing complete change of clothes, sleeping bag etc - he's not happy about it and nor am I! I think if it wasn't for that he'd be sleeping through. It seems to leak out at the sides - I think he often moves onto his side when asleep - seems to leak less when he's lying on his back or front. I've tried bigger sizes, smaller sizes, different brands (mainly Huggies/Pampers but to no avail. He's quite slim-waisted relative to his size. Could that be the problem?

Any advice much appreciated - we're all very tired....

Have you tried pampers baby dry? They are v absorbant
Also make sure it is nice and tight

Other option is to do an additional nappy change before you go to bed

are you sure his willy is down when you put the nappy on? otherwise only the very front will absorb then it will just come out over the top.

or if it is ponting sideways it will leakout the leghole also.

Thanks. I'll try manoevring his willy into correct position - harder to do in the middle of the night as try to change him in the dark and on automatic pilot! - will try to remember.

Is it better to go for bigger nappy size (as more room to absorb) or smaller (tighter fit so less likely to leak?

Nappy that fits is better...
It becomes a habit.... one hand willy down and other hand quick nappy over....

Thought I'd update that after reading this and earlier thread where someone had recommended Tesco's own brand nappies over Pampers as better designed for boys and reducing leaks, I bought some - we have now had 4 nights in a row with no leaks - ds still wakes up with very full nappies but at least his clothes and sleeping bag aren't all soaked through.

Thanks, and I hope that can help someone else.
