daughter 7 , other kids talking bad and making fun of her little sister at school .......

My daughter is in grade two , and kids that age say what's on there minds and have trouble understanding , which I totally undertsand I have got in so many different reactions to my youngest daughter , she mentally behind , no eyes , one ear , head it mis-shapen , and eye sockets / lids are small . But my question is how to deal with my oldest like what to tell her how to help her deal with it , the kids in her class say bad things and make fun of her sister she gets really upset . Need help please ! What do I say , how do I help .

I would do a few things I think.

1. Talk to the school. They can address this kind of thing in circle time. Talking about being kind, accepting difference etc.

2. Give your elder daughter some responses.
   'Yes I know she looks different, but I still love her'
   'Yes she has XXX condition, so what?'
   'That is a really mean thing to say, at least she's not going to grow up like you'

3. This may be a bit much to ask, but, you could consider taking your younger daughter in to school and talk to the class. Explain about her condition, let them hold her, talk about her, make her a real person in their eyes. (Probably only possible if your younger one is under about 2yo).

I completely agree with Teen, school need to address this.

Our school does a talk on no comments on appearance in a negative way. From hair colour and texture, tall, short etc in circle time.

But also the comments back along the lines of being mean helps give them something to say.

If it is possible, taking your youngest daughter into school to talk to the class may be helpful. I would talk to the teacher.
