Hotel asked mums not to bf by pool....

I take my LO swimming at a hotel's fitness centre, part of a major chain. At the end of today's class, the teacher very reluctantly told us that mums had been asked not to bf before or after classes by the pool - as it made staff feel uncomfortable. Fine to do in changing rooms etc - but that's not massively practical, there's really hardly anywhere to sit. I feel passionately about a mum's right to bf absolutely wherever she needs or wants to (and about any mum's right equally not to do it at all!), and have fed there previously. Initial reaction was to be furious and complain to head office....Does that seem like a sensible course of action!? If I don't my partner might!

There is no problem even if you are exposing breast. That is what women have breasts for - feeding babies, there is no need to hide your baby under a blanket to eat.

I walked around shops feeding baby in a sling. No chair necessary and no one said a word or probably even noticed. I didn't use a cover up though unless you count the babies big head.

Stuck a cover up is completely unnecessary.

Most breastfeeding women show very little flesh (given that the babies head is in the way) without a cover up.

I bet you wouldn't like to eat your dinner under a towel?

Hmm a cover up? Last time I checked even a newborn's head is infinitely bigger than any nipple I've ever seen.

My friend was asked in jl if she would like to use the feeding room she was a new mum totally flustered with a screaming baby sitting in the seats at the shoe department, a member of staff came to ask if she could do anything and mentioned more comfortable seats in the feeding room or tea room. Friend cried because someone helped her deff not being hearded just jl staff trying to make her more comfortable.

I would bf anywhere i would bottle feed, would deff choose a chair poolside over the tiny benches in the cubicals, I would choose a feeding room or cafe over the middle of a store so I could relax a bit and not be bumped into.

My mum was told off for breastfeeding me in a beer garden back in the 80s.

She said "is it because we've brought our own food?"
