My son can't wear a suit and he is Paige boy!

My son is 7 and has autism and is non verbal next month my son is going to be Paige boy at a very close families wedding AND Blessing however he can't stand suits! To the point last year ( again Paige boy) he was stood at the front of the church undressing himself and sobbing as the vicar was talking....

I have spoken to the bribe to be and groom and they have said he can wear something else and they don't mind what ... However I am really struggling to find something!

At this rate he will be turning up in his onesie which I absolutely HATE the idea of... My son is VERY small for his age and fits in size 2-3 years clothes and he need two outfits, one for each day!

Has anyone been in this situation before? What did they wear?

What does he normally wear that he is comfortable in?

I think you need to show him what the others will be wearing, then take him to a shop where he can see and feel the clothes so he can find something that suits him

Can you have him practise wearing it for short periods up until the wedding

Is it sensory eg the texture of the fabric? My ASD son will only wear soft cotton clothes and can't cope with anything restrictive. Maybe post on the SN board for ideas - am sure other people have been in the same boat.

My cousin dressed her son in a TuxTshirt and pair of black jeans. He looked absolutely fine.

believe it or not I've seen wedding suit onesies on etsy very recently. I think they were available upto 18-24 months. Wonder if it would be possible to get one made in a 2-3. I'd rather have a happy page boy in a onesie than an unhappy one any day.

What about something like this? Effectively a cotton tunic over elasticated waist trousers.

They can be as plain or as fancy as you like. DS wore one to a wedding recently. Groom was Indian but we aren't.

What sort of clothes does he wear without difficulty? Because the smarter end of that is probably the answer. Assuming he won't go into the other trad options like a sailor suit.

And no, unless you are worried he's going to get very dirty, he can wear the same thing both days.

Does he really have to be a page boy , it sounds as if the experience would be quite distressing for him.Why can't he just go as a guest and wear what he is comfortable in .

What does he wear for school? A polo shirt with chinos or school trousers would be smart and might be familiar enough not to unsettle him?
