Sorry I am single full time daddy and I need to share the news with someone! :D

My son is 7 years old and has Autism and global development delay, from day one I have always been told by " professionals" that he would never be able to talk and he will never say " daddy" or " I love you".

I was changing my little mans Nappy a Minute ago when suddenly I heard a little voice go " Dada" ... It was MY SON! :D :D ( I admit it I cried like a little baby!)

I am so so happy, so so proud and so excited for the future... I just want to shout it from the roof tops! :D

I knew one day he would prove everyone wrong and today he did!! :D

Well done Craigs DS. That's fantastic. You must be so elated.

My DS (4) has extremely delayed speech and GDD and any new words are a cause for celebration. I cried when he said "cheese" for the first time Blush

Craig, my son said his first word at 9 years old and I was so shocked I thought one of the neighbours children and stowed away in my car with us when I wasn't looking. It was only when I'd pulled over to look for the stowaway that I realised it had been my son. Smile

He had in fact been a silent child until then but from that day on he started to say things and it became very obvious he'd been soaking up information like a sponge. I'd done home ed with him and he in fact had a full nursery education in him all stored away just waiting to come out. At 25 he can use about 5 words in a sentence. Its very broken, and there are very few joining words, but he gets by.

You must be so happy Grin

It's a lovely moment, isn't it. Ds2 has never been completely silent, but it was largely squeals and wordless vocalisations. We got the odd word but never heard it again.

Then, about 2 years ago, just before his 8th birthday, he started mimicking alphablocks. Hasn't shut up since!
