Cot Bed and Boots and Bars

Hi Everyone,

Our Little one is almost 2 and we'e been thinking about converting her cot to a cot bed.. The things is she is in boots and bars and will be for the next 3 years at least at night.. Does anyone have any experience of a child with boots and bars with a cot bed?

I partly think we should leave the cot part of it as she does tend to sleep in some very strange positions

Why do you want to convert it? Ds was in his cot until 2y 6months and didn't go into a big bed until then. There isn't any rush to take the bars off

My ds only just turned 3 and has been in his cotbed for only a couple of nights. No hurry OP.

Only reason is that she has a tendency to really whack the side of the cots whilst she sleeps with the bars. Bumpers have had little effect. A few times it's woken her up.. We were thinking of the cot bed with the safety barrier on the side.. She quite enjoys sleeping on our bed that way (although she has a lot more space). Although I suppose we could wait for a bit...

I don't have an answer for you but am curious to read any responses - our little boy is wearing his boots and bars for 23 hours a day at the moment and should be in them just overnight in May - all fine for now but I'm wondering what we do when we're in the same situation as you.

We've decided to not take the sides down for the time being... tellmeagain, we've tied lots of fabric around the bars and secured them with cable ties to stop them coming off... She doesn't whack the sides as hard and wake herself up so much. We've also put the following around the bar:

It helps to stop them damaging furniture and yourself!
