After the long running thread in AIBU (and the havoc that ensued) MNHQ said they didn't think there was sufficient interest for a board (boo hiss MNHQ) but suggested I start a long-running thread instead, so here it is!

Intended for those involved in, considering or with experience of parenting in the context of poly relationships to share insights, thoughts, seeks advice or share frustrations. Primarily with regard to parenting issues but also relationship ones, (on the basis that posting a thread in 'Relationships' with this title would probably go down like a fart in a spacesuit).

Everyone's welcome, (we're poly, right!?) but please be kind and considerate, and please don't come here simply to moralise or judge. If it's not your thing and you've nothing helpful to add please just exit the way you came...

It seemed like that thread was a lot of the worst fears people have about poly in the abstract; except for how usually those fears are countered by knowing you in reality. It spiralled into something very bizarre!

I still haven't gone back to read it all. But I want to, I think by listening to their concerns/fears it can actually help you to crystallise why you want to take this path in relationships anyway. Does that make sense?

How is everyone getting on?

My DH, DP and I are still content in our setup. DP is convalescing from serious health problems but two of his lovely friends (both ex GFs) have been looking after him in shifts and I have been popping in now and again to see him. DH has met a new laydee who is also poly, they are getting on like a house on fire-pleased for him.

Hellooo.

Still can only consider myself dating rather than in a poly relationship. They both live at a distance so infrequent meetings and we have more on our minds than discussing a poly setup ;-) but I'm open about it and keen to talk about what's expected from standard relationships with them.

Glad to hear you DP having fun So.

I'm going to come out and join your little corner, and I'm not going to name change. Long time MNer, haven't been on much for the last few years though. Been poly for about a year now and have been gradually telling close friends, which has gone surprisingly well. The DSs will be 7 and 4 this summer and as far as they're concerned, I go for a "sleepover at my friend's house" sometimes.

So, um, hi!
