Itchy breasts - breastfeeding 9 month old

For the last month or so I've had really itchy breasts. There's nothing to see it's just really itchy. I've stopped wearing bras at night but that's made little difference. It's all over the breast from underneath where my bra goes, to the top bit, to round the nipples. Basically all of it on both of them! I've now got weird bruise marks where the red scratching has healed. I always seem to be at the doctors for something or other so wanted to ask MN before booking yet another appointment!

Have you tried lanolin to soothe it? Might be your baby has got a little lazy latching and is irritating the skin a bit.

Have you changed shampoo, body wash, or washing powder recently? Any of those can cause me to have dry skin.

Better the GP. Probably nothing but itchy breasts will be taken seriously.
Most likely nothing, but best taken seriously.

Sounds like it could be thrush. Are your nipples red? Thrush is killer to get rid of so if it is you will have to fight it vigorouslu!

The nipples are the least itchy bit actually. I do have some lanolin knocking around somewhere so will dig it out. Thanks for the responses. If not better in a week I'll try the GP.

No changes to any washes or washing powders. I've washed my bras incase there was any residue on them though.
