We were at MIL's and DS1 (3y 5m) was playing with his little cars out in the hallway - I went out to check on him and he had used MIL's walking stick and made black marks all over the cream walls - he had tried to do this earlier and I had told him not to so I shouted at him and he wet himself I feel like a terrible mother - I dont want him to be frightened of me.

He was probably just needing a pee anyway might not have been that scared.

colditz · 02/01/2007 22:24

Well, to be fair he was doing something very naughty and he knew it. It was probably the sudden shock of being discovered than made him wet himself, not fear.

schneebly · 02/01/2007 22:27

really? I just hate the thought that I frightened him so much he wet himself - I didnt think I had shouted that much.

little bugger

I know I did wrong and she caught me and is cross, I'll just wet myself that'll teach her

and boy did it

zephyrcat · 02/01/2007 22:28

schneebly I doubt for a second that he's scared of you. As Colditz says, it was probably more the surprise of being caught.

When my dd was around that age she used to wet herself if I told her off and sent her upstairs or something. It was just a phase that she soon outgrew.

lulumama · 02/01/2007 22:28

or, he was so absorbed in his game he ignored needing a wee, and couldn;t hold it in anymore.

Twiglett · 02/01/2007 22:28

although not that consciously, manipulatively thought-out of course

('scuse spelling)

pantomimEdam · 02/01/2007 22:28

Aw, schneeby, I can imagine that made you feel bad but he'll be OK, you know. Colditz is probably right.

schneebly · 02/01/2007 22:30

Twiglett - your post made me laugh! He can be a manipulative little so and so right enough!
