... when your dd is almost potty trained and are still in that - quick get to the loo as quickly as you can - mode? e.g. if in the park and loos right at the other end of the park and dd wants to go to do a wee? is it acceptable to go behind a tree and let her do it there?

what about when you're in the car?

help?

of course it's ok to go behind a tree! In the car we keep a folding travel potty and pull over if needed. They're very handy...

I think its fine. In fact I'd struggle to get out of the house if I didn't feel I could just let him wee in the park, by the roadside, etc etc. There are no loos in our park anyway! I've also stopped the car and let him wee in the gutter when desperate. I think its a bit easier for boys though.
I guess at some point we will have to 'unteach' him that this is ok, but 2 weeks into potty training isn't the time imo!

Perfectly fine to use a tree, etc. if need be. I struggle with Dd though as I find I can't hold her well enough to do the manouvere!

We have this fold up travel potty which fits in the bag, car, etc and is really easy to use. I do think the bags are a bit expesnive at £2.50 for 10 but having looked at them I reckon it is pretty easy and cheaper to make your own (sure Ronniebaby told me how once).

I also found it really helpful to take her to the loo before leaving, if we stopped anywhere and so on rather than completely rely on her. sort of pre-empt it slightly. My mum did have to race out of the shoe shop with DD, up the road, into a shopping centre, up the escalators to the loos. Was really funny and DD managed to hold on...
