My LO has been a late walker and still not great, are all children walking well by two years old?

My little boy was a late-ish walker. Started walking at 18 months. He's 21 months now and just runs everywhere! How old is your little one?

My DS walked about two weeks before his second birthday, he still has an immature gait (Healthcare pros word!) and can be quite clumsy and revert to walking on his knees if the mood strikes him. How old is your DC?

Don't worry! My DS only started at 19months, and was still pretty unsteady by 22 months. He is now a very nippy runner, has great balance, and is a mean disco dancer.

I know how worrying it is. In fact I posted the same on this board many years ago! But if you are worried go see your GP and they will be able to reassure you.

It can be a few things iguess walking on tip toes or walking with feet inward or bow legs

Mine started at 14 months 2 months premature. Most of the time it's not to do with if they are capable or not but their courage. I think mine would have walked a lot sooner if he just was brave enough to let go of sofas walls etc

passmethewineplease · 01/03/2016 11:38

howilove I don't know myself! I think it means their stance when they walk? I was told by my HV to contact them if he was making no effort to walk at 18 months, don't know if it is different elsewhere.

My ds didn't walk until he was two.

He is a cross country runner for is high school now.

16mo ds took three or four staggered steps yesterday - his first ever. Was beginning to think itd never happen. He doesnt want to walk today though so who knows when he will eventually crack it.

I had a late walker-under physio care from newborn. He properly caught up with his peers at about 3.5 (he walked at about 18 months shakily).

The time between walking and catching up was odd because he could do the same stuff just nowhere near as well!
