Open university - any grants?

I have enrolled for a degree with the open uni but it doesn't start until October. A friend told me I may be entitled to a parents learning allowance grant once my course starts (or something along those lines.)

Is this only applicable if you go to a bricks and mortar uni or will I be entitled to that? I'll be doing a 3 year course rather than 6 year if that helps with my enquiry. Thanks in advance!

If that doesn't answer, contact them. It's not just a simple yes/no as no one here knows your circumstances

Contact OU. I've always found them brilliant at helping with financial stuff. While phoning to sort out my course fees, I got informed of everything theu knew I'd be eligible for and a few things to look into that I might be able to apply for. And all I did was ask about disabled students allowance!
