How many and what puschairs do I need for 2 under 2?

I have a one year old son and my daughter will be due in June when he is 18 months old. I'm a single mum and live in a third floor flat, so ideally need something manageable. I have a landlover so car space not really an issue.

My son goes to his dad's on the weekend and a child minder during the week so there will be occasions where I have my daughter but not my son. There could be some verse visa occasions too.

At the moment my son has a car seat which we keep in the car, a cheap small buggy that's kept in the boot and a puschair that's kept inside. He's just started walking but isn't steady yet, although by June I'm hoping he might be a little better.

What do I need to get?? in my mind this is what I need but seems awfully a lot
Double buggy- for when I have both
Travel system- for when it's just one of them
Buggy- incase it's just son

Do I need to keep my travel system (currently son is using the puschair on it) or is it fine to just have a double buggy even though sometimes it will be just one of them in there! And at 19 months is it ok just to use a buggy and not a pushchair?

I'd say double buggy for both, single that takes a car seat for when you have just one child, doesn't matter which.

You could get a double and single that takes a maxi cosi car seat. Baby jogger doubles are good, and easy to fold, as are the singles. Both are from newborn as well.

I will have a newborn and an almost 2yr old in May and have just bought a Phil and teds which can be used as a single, double or a travel system of you get the adaptora and the right car seat.

To be honest I doubt I will use it as a double much as I will probably carry one or the other in a sling and the other in the buggy or DS will walk (he already walks quite a lot and I rarely use a buggy) but the layout means I have the choice rather than just having a huge side by side with one kid in it.

Phil and Teds. Easy to use as either a double or a single. Best buggy ever-we paid £80 for one on e bay.

I found a decent sling invaluable when I had a little baby and similarly aged toddler - meant I had two hands free to deal with the toddler as the baby hated the cocoon thing on the buggy. Test a few buggies to see how heavy they are - we have a phil and teds and I don't love it as it weighs a ton but I concede it does the job I need it to.

Also agree with Phil and Ted - we got a second hand vibe on ebay and I use it loads for both and each one individually.

21m between ours and we didn't buy a double buggy. Used a sling and a buggy board.

Are you sure you need one?

I also used the Caboo Close sling a lot but as long as ds naps we need a buggy.

We have icandy peach 2...it has been great. Can be used as double stroller, or single and with the car seat. We have two kids, 20 months apart and I still use the double buggy! They are now 2 and 3! Quite happy with the stroller. I use it 2-3 hours a day of walking!

Baby jogger city select. The seat units are bigger than on the I candy and there are more configurations than on phil and teds. Also folds very easily, quite light, can take carseat and is both single or double buggy.

Phil & Teds. Brilliant as both a single & double. Can get it to lie flat for newborn & take car seat. Compact when folded up. Lasts well. Our's was 2nd hand from EBay. Good sized wheels so will cope with bumpy paths. Only criticism is that they are a bit prone to punctures. Stick Teflon tape (sold for bikes) inside the tyres & it's easily remedied.

Slings are excellent too (particularly if you have a c section).

I'm a single parent with a 8 month old and 3 year old.

I got an oyster max, this solved the problem of needing a double and a single as it can be both.

I also have other pushchairs, but I'm still using the oyster max daily!

I got mine second hand for £250.

For those saying they got by with a sling and a single - you can do. I also have a sling and have used it with one in the pram. But as a single parent, you REALLY need whatever will make your life as easy as possible.

I got the following: oyster max, maxi cosi pebble with isofix base, I also have a sling, and 2 single pushchairs (baby jogger city mini and maclaren quest). I already had the other 2 pushchairs but I could manage happily without them.

We did baby in the Ergo, or buggy board on the back of existing buggy. Bigger gap between my two - 2y10m - but DC1 started preschool when DC2 was born so we did a lot of walking to nursery together.

We use the same buggy we already had for dc1 and an ergo for dc2. Can use the baby carseat on buggy frame too.

The big problem with a P&T is the older child can't really nap when the baby is lying down in the main seat, the second seat perches on top and is quite upright.

Something like the Oyster or Jané Twone might be better, both can sleep if required and easy to use as a single.

I've got a Babyjogger side by side which I love but I've also got a garage to store it in, I wouldn't want it in the boot all the time. Although to be fair, it does go very flat.

I have a 2 and 1 year old an use a bugaboo donkey. It's great because it's the only side by side buggy you can clip a car seat on the top of (or was a year ago!) you can use it in double mode or single mode and it's really easy to change it over. The down side is it's a bit of a pain to build and take down each time you get in and out of the car. It's great if you do lots of walking not so great for me that gets in and out of the car a minimum of four times a day.

We have a city mini double. We bought a carrycot for the baby.

As far as doubles go I love it. Easy to manoeuvre. The fold is fantastic, so easy.

I had an 18m gap and a tiny house, so no space for the double inside (it wouldn't even fit through the front door).

In the end I had a good buggy for the older DC and far to many some very comfortable slings for the younger one.

In the car I kept a nipper 360 double. It was fantastic as you could push it one handed, this was pretty essential as I had an older DC who was still small and needed hand holding to cross the road, also when the older 18 month old wanted to walk for a bit I could still hang onto him as well.
