Travel cot that doubles as a playpen

Just that really -do such things exist? If so what type can you do this with or is this not a thing at all? If that's the case - what type of playpen did you have and when did your baby start needing to be 'locked' away? Tia

I just used a regular travel cot as a play pen/baby prison- I threw some toys in though. I used it when ds first started to crawl (7 months ish) as somewhere to put him whilst I went to the loo. I wouldn't buy anything just for this though (we had a travel cot already)as ds soon realised the prison nature of it and started to howl when put in it!

My sister just used the travel cot she had, with some toys thrown in.
We were lucky enough to be given dh's old "prison" (with the bars) which was brilliant - so useful.

Never used a playpen, it would have been completely in the way. They just crawled around room

I also used to found it useful for when I was cooking as we had a tiny, tiny kitchen off the living room and i didn't want him crawling around the room whilst I was in the kitchen.

We've got a Mothercare 'pack and play' which doubles as a travel cot and playpen, managed to pick it up cheaply in a charity shop. Found it really useful just for short periods of time like nipping to the loo or answering the door (our living room is upstairs). I starting using it from around 6/7 months when he started crawling/pulling up on furniture.

My DS crawled at about 7mo. We never used one. Just baby proof as much as possible and have strategically placed stairgates. One across the kitchen is handy.

I had a Chicco "under the sea" one, like a travel cot but square and larger. I found it really useful for keeping DS safe once he started crawling, especially when I was busy cooking or had to go upstairs/answer the front door. He loved it and his older sister used to climb in it to play with him too. (It had a zip-up entry panel so she didn't need to climb over the top.)

It was much better than the BabyDan playpen I'd had for DD as it was light and very quick/easy to put up/take down.

Just a normal one. I can't remember the brand. Hardly ever had it up TBH because it took up loads of space and also because DS would just cry to be picked up the whole time he was in there. Something like the Jumperoo was much better to plop him in while I did stuff, and later I got a travel stairgate to stick across doorways which I could move around as needed.
