2 year old refusing to go on potty

My 2.5 yr old dd has been very enthusiastic about going on her potty since the summer time, although it was rather intermittent on our part. However for the past couple of weeks she creates a lot of fuss and will not go on there without a big protest beforehand. She also cries about having her nappy changed,, again something she has only done for the past couple of weeks. We have backed off with the potty as do not want it to become too big an issue. Just worried as to why we are suddenly getting this response.

my 3yr old ds went through that stage. He went really well using the toilet, no nappies all day when we were in the house - missed the potty stage as he refused point blankly. Then suddenly he refused. put nappies back on him and then after a while we tried again. has been using the toilet to wee for a couple of months but wont do the other!! Still wearing nappies when out and for bed.

I read`somewhere that reaction can be in response to one hard poo that hurt...possible?

could be but i think he is just being stubborn. he just thinks everything is funny at the moment and refuses to do anything you want him to
