My DS (8 months) has been ill for a week... very bad cold, conjunctivitus and teething!
He's on antibiotics and other medicines and there is improvement however he is off his food and milk.
We wonderered if he had a sore throat as he gags when eating solids and has never had an issue with food before... he is also not interested in his milk... he probably has 10oz MAXIMUM a day! (He usually has 16oz).
Does anyone have any suggestions - i will be taking him to the dr's tomorrow anyway as i want him fully checked over.

I wouldn't worry too much about him being off his food when he's got a cold. Adults are often the same. As long as it doesn't carry on for too long I'd just go with what he wants.

Right, ok... sounds ok then... i've been giving him anything that he enjoys rather than things that he sometimes pulls a face at.... yoghurt, weetabix etc... i'm sure my HV once said if you cant get milk into them, try something that contains milk....

I'm petrified i'm doing something wrong!

dont worry too much

when better he will catch up for what he hasnt eaten!

what about good quality ice cream? may sooth his throat and will have lots of necessary fat and calcium in the milk and cream.

also what about cool water or diluted fruit juice? worth a try!

also make sure you keep giving calpol / nurofen to give him the best chance of at least feelibg better so he may want to try food etc!
