Gran picked up "for hungrier babies" formula what the hell am i supposed to do with that!

So my gran was going to asda and asked if i needed anything, my 7 week old baby was running out of formula so i asked her to pick that up and some nappies for me.
She came back all pleased with herself and handed me my milk i am soo annoyed it's not exactly cheap ! What the hell do i do? I can't give my baby it surely?! My HV said it can cause constipation :( and my baby is quite happy with the usual first stage stuff and feeding quite happily waking up every 2-3 3-4 hours for a 3-4 oz feed. :( and she sleeps well too well,is awake for an hour or 2 ( if I'm lucky/ persistent) so i dont think giving her it will be a good idea with the way she sleeps!
Can i return it?
Can i add a extra oz of water to water it down? Doesn't work like that does it?
Do i shove it away in my wardrobe and fork out more money and just buy another tin? Aughhh :( need to vent. The struggles of a new mother rips out clump of hair

Maybe phone and see if they will exchange (they often don't). Pointless watering it down as it has the same calories as first milk but is more casein based than whey based so can take longer to digest.

If it's not been opened then exchange it.

Take it back and swap it :) my DH bought the wrong one when DD was tiny and lost the receipt! So we just went to customer services and they were happy to swap it for the right one, as it hadn't been opened

Don't switch it whatever you do also don't water it down. I'd ring and ask of they will swap it, do you have the receipt?

I fed mine hipp organic but in my new born confusion picked up the follow on box, I took it back with the receipt and they understood and swapped it.

Called ASDA they said i should be able to just change it, lol
I was reading up and people were saying their supermarkets were saying they cant do that because of the risk of tampering so that set me off on one and the shock of that blue label staring at me when my gran handed me it lol raging
But yeah i should be able to return it tomorrow and get my usual formula, such a waste of time trying to SAVE time

Tell me about it, I once ended upSsitting on my living room floor as I was about to leave the house with new born after taking like 2hours to mentally and physically prepare for this event only for DS to spit up on my last clean t-shirt

I was sitting on the toilet crying last week because i got my first period since having my baby and i had bought the wrong kind of sanitary towels and had leaked on my last pair of clean underwear. My partner ended up giving me a pair of his boxer shorts

Surely you just reuturn the formula and get what you need, and thank your gran very much for getting your shopping. Next time be more specfic!

I've done returns and exchanges for baby formula loads of times, work for asda, as long as it's unopened and still has the little seal on the lid you should be fine

I think you need to chill out a bit! Motherhood is stressful enough without getting your knickers in a twist about non-issues. She did something nice for you but mistakenly picked up the wrong one.

Options

1. Take it back if you have the receipt and it's unopened
2. Keep it for a few months down the line in case you need it
3. If you are all out of formula and haven't got time to change it before the next feed then just open it and use it, it will do your baby no harm at all.

I agree your making a mountain out of a molehill but equally agree them molehills are like mountains when the hormones are raging we've all been there don't worry about it

My man did this. Fortunately it was just a small carton so I just used it the once and then switched DS back onto the normal first stage again. It didn't do him any harm, although he was about 4 months.

I hope your gran didn't realise how cross you were - she was only doing her best

And before you pile in on me, I've got 3 DCs, 3 and under. The youngest is only 10 weeks so I'm kind of at the same stage as you.

Normally I wouldn't post but I thought I should as I do think your reaction (even internally) is not quite proportionate to the "crime". I'm breast feeding but I honestly don't think this would trigger the same kind of reaction. You obviously don't have to get into on this thread but are you generally feeling OK? If not, might be worth a trip to the doc's

...and seriously, you're going to feel like crap and that will compound things if your running out of clean underwear etc. Make sure your DH is doing his fair share of washing etc
