Birthday parties, is my daughter not invited? ( or has she lost the invite)

My daughter has told me that she has a party this weekend but I haven't found an invite. My daughters bag is a black hole and it is very possible that the invite is somewhere in her bedroom. Or maybe she wasn't invited.

She is friendly with the birthday girl and I'd be surprised if she wasn't invited but I don't really want to make the mum uncomfortable but I've run out of time a little at the moment. Shall I just ask?
I feel a bit awkward.

Do you have her number? Just text saying what you've said above. And that you won't be offended if she isn't. Don't see what else you can do really.

I wouldn't ask. Unless I had a written/text invite they wouldn't be going. Do you know if the invitations were put in bag by teacher or were they handed out by the child?

I'd call or text - exactly what you said. DD mentioned the party, haven't seen a paper invite. Absolutely no worries if she isn't invited but just wanted to check.

I would do what plantsitter suggested. After having read umpteen threads on MN about parents who never RSVP to invitations it is better to know and let the parent of the birthday child know.

Text it happens all the time, I found 2 in the bottom of my dd's sports bag at the end of one school term and had a text from the parent of one of dss best friends before his last birthday as he had come home from school saying he had an invite but they couldn't find it. So glad they did ds would have been really upset if one of his best friends just hadn't turned up.
