Fitbit has a vibrate alarm setting that I make DH use so as not to wake me. He sets a back up alarm on his phone for 10 mins later incase Fitbit isn't enough.

My phone on vibrate wakes me if it's under my pillow. Would that work?

I bought DH a sunrise alarm clock a couple of years ago and it's been brilliant. His is the Lumie. Not cheap but definitely worth it, you set your wake up time and it starts to gradually light up for about 15 mins before that time (I think you can change that setting). He has no sound on his, and because it's on his side of the bed he's normally awake and has switched it off before it wakes me.

He used to be terrible at getting up, especially in winter, but something about the gentle, more natural gradual light thing has made it so much easier. Really worth it if you can afford one.
