flipping heck - ds2's just potty trained himself!

Am ridiculously proud - was being busy yesterday and heard a little voice exclaiming he'd done a wee on the potty. So I ignored him but ds1 raced up and confirmed!

Ds2 (2.8) had gone upstairs, taken the potty from the shelf (where it's been collecting dust!), taken his trousers and nappy off and done his first ever wee on the potty!!

Bizarre. We've tried a couple of times over the past 2 - 3 months, but he'd given no indication that he knew when he needed a wee, so we were going to wait until he was 3 in April before trying again.

Since yesterday, all wees have been done in the potty - with the mandatory treat for each one so far...

No poos though - he did one in his nappy he had on after his nap.

So, slightly nervous about whether he knows when he needs a poo, but am in the meantime hugely impressed with ds2's self sufficiency..!

Sounds similar to my ds who, at 2.3, announced he didn't want to wear nappies anymore and that was it! No accidents atall. I have since realised that this was somewhat unusual!

Soupy - I know! he's so big and grown up - can't quite believe he's been in underpants today!

Quite a difference from ds1, who got to nearly 4 before he'd entertain the idea of using the toilet. Mind you, he's very pleased at the moment as his premise is that "it's not fair" (if I hear that one more time...) that he doesn't get a treat when ds2 does, so they've both been getting a jelly baby/button each time ds2 has used the potty!

My ds1 was a nightmare to train! It took well over a year and dh and I were almost white-haired at the end of it! Ds2 was a lot better but still had to be taught! Ds3 isn't 2 yet but I don't relish the thought of potty training at all!
Well done to your ds2, Dot!

well done. I'm very jalous though . We made a pathetic try last week with our 2.3y old dd and gave up after 2 hours, 5 accidents including 1 poo, 3 pairs of knickers and trousers . All I did for 2 hours was mopping the floor.
