so used a second reusable nappy on dd2 today and unluckily she pooed without us realising. changed her at 6pm bathtime and her private area (iykwim) is really swollen - really really swollen.

(must add that i dont think its the nappy's fault)

i've piled on the sudocream, a disposable and given her 2.5ml of medised before putting her to bed.

please reassure me that the swelling will go down... poor darling ...

it should go down might also be worth while if not better by morning going for some metanium/kamillsan and using one of them then putting sudocrem on top. Also is it definetly nappy rash. When using cloth nappy I always use fleece liners as it takes the wetness away from the delicate area.

i'm pretty certain its nappy rash and have got some metanium at home so will try yr suggestion in the morning.

i havent pre-washed any of the nappies - which are pocket/stuffable ones - should i have done???

we're also trying to sleep train her at the moment (she's 17mths) and tonight is the third night, should i stop that - even though i dont think the nappy rash bothers her than much...

would carry on with sleep training.
Re the nappies I tend to prewash as they tend to gain absorbancy more after more washes so I usually just chuck them in with clothes for a couple of washes.

you also need to clean off any manufacturing residue from cloth nappies so even pockets should have one quick wash. I remember switching from disposables to washable nappies and it took a while to notice a pooped in nappy as they do smell alot different. Also DS did get a slightly red bum for the first week of using them as his skin got used to the different nappies (but not nappy rash).
