Too stubborn to use the potty - help!

My DD is 2. She's been showing all the signs of being ready to be potty trained since she was 17 months. At 18 months we bought her a potty and spent a few weeks getting her to sit on it at key times. She did several wees and poos successfully and seemed to be proud. However, when I decided to have a complete 'nappy-free' day she refused to sit on the potty at all, had several accidents, no successes and just got more and more stressed about it. After 2 days of this I decided maybe she wasn't ready after all. Now 6 months later I thought I might try again. Same thing happened. I even had a star chart for the preparation stage and she got several stars and got really excited about them. We regularly sit all her toys on the potty, so she seems to know what it's for. But the moment the nappy comes off she refuses point blank to go anywhere near the potty. Even immediately after an accident. What should I do? Should I just let her have several days of accidents, or do I conclude she's still not ready? The thing is, if she's not potty trained by March we'll have to wait until she's nearly 3 as we'll be travelling for 6 months. Advice please!!

Thanks for your message, sleepycat. Actually we do have 2 potty books which we've been reading to her over the last 6 months. Maybe she just hasn't made the connection yet. I guess we could train her when we're travelling, it's just that I heard it wasn't good to potty train when other things are changing in her life. She'll be moving around a lot and won't be in the usual familiar surroundings. I'm not sure she'll take the initiative if I just leave her to it. She doesn't really see any other children using the potty since all her little friends are younger.
