Are babies born with arched feet?

My husband's feet are a size 14 and very very flat. My daughter's are very flat, and they seem to be the only big thing about her. She's 5 days old. Do newborns come with arched feet? Mine are, well, I just have to tell it like it is, tiny and arched like a ballerina's. She has the big ox's feet, doesn't she? Tell me now, save me months of forlorn hope.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

All babies are born with flat feet, the arches form later. Many babies feet seem out of proportion to their body.

As far as I can remember most babies are born with flat feet - the arch only appears once they're about 3 and have developed their foot and leg muscles by walking.

Enjoy your newborn and don't worry about her feet! (though do take back or exchange all the size-0 booties before anyone takes the tags off them )

heh! The baby is so so tiny, the little babygrows swamp her, and yet the foot parts don't even reach the heel, so I am basically sunk, I know. But I am holding out for the chance of an arch now!
