Financing childcare, SLC or CTC?

I've never formally paid for childcare before(I know , I'm v lucky!) but when ds goes to nursery next year I'll be adding bits on to cover my timetable. Does one dept expect you to claim it from the other or does it matter?

Go for SLC, you get more % paid.
Neither expects you to do whichever, you just apply for the one you want.
