What do you do with your 3 month old?

I am constantly anxious that I am not 'doing it right' I am an older ftm , DS is 3 months. Just wondering what other peoples days look like?

Dd is 2 now but at 3 months a standard day involved a walk to the shop, sometimes a trip into town or somewhere more exciting, and just napping and feeding the rest of the time!

Nearly 3m here. Days are feeding, me being a mattress, sleeping not on me, possibly a baby group or shopping, some baby gym, tummy time or supervising chores from sling or buzzy chair.

What do you do with the baby while you are doing stuff? I feel guilty at him being stuck in the bouncy chair while i wash up - I foot bounce him as i wash/dry. In the Moses basket while i have a bath, in the sling while i cook dinner. And so on. He does love the bouncy chair.

Trying to do one group a week. Both grandmothers visit, and i have ponies i go to every day when he goes in the sling while i wander about the field. I just don't feel i do enough with him somehow.

All seems fine to me. At 3 months they don't need a massive amount of stimulation! Just watching you wash up and with the horses will be interesting for him.

Thanks. I do chat a lot, sing etc and he responds well. I need some sort of instruction book. :-)

Ds is nearly 4 months. He goes on playmat while I'm in shower, jumperoo while I do housework, we walk into town or to baby groups, sometimes go swimming, in the afternoon he lies on the floor with his toys or we have visits from friends or grandparents, we chat, I sing songs to him and have fun with a bath. He sits in his bouncy chair while I iron and listens to the music it plays. He also lies and looks at his mobile in the crib while I do upstairs chores. I think the most important thing is to chat and interact with them all the time at this age. It sounds like loads of toys/equipment but I think all they really need is company and interaction.

I do play with my 3 Month old quite a bit. A day would be, wake, change, bottle, play, bath, nap. Repeat this minus the change and bath. I usually play with her for 30 mins at a time, or until she's had enough. Play with some toys, or sing or read to her make stupid faces and noises etc lol, try and encourage her to touch and feel and grab etc, do a bit of tummy time, put her on her play gym. Sometimes I leave her on her play gym by herself if I need to get things done, I think it's good for babies to be able to stimulate themselves too.

I've just joined a baby sensory group which does similar things and it is really good.

My ds just turned 4 months. Apart from feeding and napping, which take up a lot of time, I usually put him on his playmat for a bit, give him some tummy time, put him in the jumperoo while I'm washing up or cooking etc (max 20 min per day), do a bit of singing and reading and looking out the window. Then I try and go out every day, so taking him for a walk, taking him to the shops, going to baby group, meeting people for coffee. Basically stuff for me and he just comes along.

Mine is five months now and as my PNTB (poor neglected third born :o), not much! I hold him a lot, sing to him, and basically just babble sickly sweet baby talk to him. :)

He gets lots of stimulation from just watching the others, I think. We go for lots of walks, he loves being outdoors! I put him in his jumparoo a lot and he likes the toys.

I don't worry about it as much as I did my first. I think when they're quite young the most important thing for brain development is lots of looking at a loving, engaged human face. If they've got that, dry diapers, milk, and snuggles, you're doing just fine. :)

By "jumparoo a lot" I mean he goes in it for a bit every day, not that I leave him there for hours or anything! Just to clarify :o

Haha cheerful pntb confined to the jumperoo for hours at a time. Seems like we are probably doing ok. We don't do groups as much as a lot of people and i get sod all help from DH so its all down to me and I worry that I'm missing something. Or lots of things!

Drag her along to numerous toddler groups with my 23 month old! I only have an hour a day just with her (while toddler is napping). In that hour I talk to her/sing to her etc. If we're at home she's usually just moved between bouncy chair/playmat etc while I sort the toddler out.

You are Notta! :) I think (and from what I've read of the science of the brain) they really just need love and someone to respond to their needs when they're tiny.

I read an interesting thing about mothers instinctively lengthening their vowels and talking in sing song to their babies. It helps them learn to speak, apparently! It's funny because it does come so naturally. I really do just babble ridiculously at mine. :o

My DD is 5mo now but our days have been quite similar for the past few weeks. I generally try to wait until she's asleep before I go shower (that's if I haven't managed to have one before DH leaves for work). Then we usually go to a baby group/class (massage, swimming, yoga - yoga is more for me than her!). She'll play under her baby gym or sometimes will entertain being put in her bouncer. We look at books, go for walks... Same as other people have said really!

Nothing really! I've had 3 dc and at that age I was just moving them around into different places, positions, having the odd play, feeding them and putting them to nap. The most adventurous i got each day was a trip to the local shop to buy ingredients for dinner!

They really don't want for much at that age, they're quite content watching the world go by.

At 3 months I got out as much as possible, but that was for my benefit more than DDs! Also she was 3 months in the height of summer.

My dd is 3 months, average day is dd in chair whilst I make breakfast & have a shower. She has a feed and either sleeps on me or we go for a walk/to the shops.

Playgym is used daily and I sing to her a lot poor kid

In chair again or gym when doing any house work unless I'm in the bedroom then she's in the crib watching the mobile.

I go to baby sensory once a week and am doing a baby massage class at the moment. I take her swimming with DP at the wknd.

We go on lots of walks, she likes to stare at trees

In the evening she's grumpy and fussy

The days just whizzed by. Today, in between feeding and changing i have had breakfast, done 2 loads of washing, hung one out (DS in Moses basket or playmat) Had a bath (Moses basket in bathroom) been to ponies (sling) shop, and had lunch. Just been chatting with him i(some fable new noises!) before washing up and getting washing in. Then DH will be home!

I feel like I've done nothing but actually haven't stopped!

You've had a bath?! Good lord I'm jealous.

Today I have showered, eaten breakfast (both before DH left for work), done and put out a nappy wash, been to yoga, done another load of washing (leaving that in the machine for DH to deal with ), eaten lunch, been on an exciting trip to buy breast pads and fed DD more times than I care to count. She's now laying across my lap cooing, sucking her fingers and trying to eat my sleeve...though bits of today have been really challenging. I'm knackered!

Burrito I had a bath because we don't have a shower. My last bath was Thursday! So not a soak but a get in, press the buttons on the singing bear several times between scrubbing, get out. My second load of washing has yet to be hung up. I got one load dry on the line. Towels. Easy to hang out.
