Please help - My 7 year old daughter is really struggling with friendships and dealing with the mean things that girls in her class seem to say and do to each other.
Her supposed best friend is constantly dumping her for some one 'better' which leaves my daughter terribly upset and confused. I've tried to encourage her to play with other girls in her class but she just can't seem to be accepted / let in. Her teacher says everything is fine. But it is very far from fine.
I have been so concerned and recently went on a school trip so I could observe a bit of what goes on. My daughter seems quite reserved in comparrison to many of her class mates and they basically just ignore her or push her out of the way ( she is also the smallest in the class and just gets shoved out of the way).
She goes to lots of after school activities but is facing the same issues with being left out, as there are girls from her class in these clubs. We live in a small town!
At ballet one of her school mates has been actively telling others in the class not to partner / talk to my daughter.
I've had most of these girls from school over for tea at one time or another. They play ok when they come over and then continue to ignore her the next day back at school. Play dates are rarely reciprocated.
I just don't know what to do anymore. She is a kind and loving little girl but her confidence is taking a real bashing and I'm running out of ideas to help her. Any advice please?
