My son will be 2 at the end of this month. He used to be okay at eating and trying new foods. He would eat my fish soup with mixed veggies, rice w fish and spinach etc. Now he refuses ALL vegetables. He never properly tries fresh fruits...just licked and said he doesn't like it. His older sister eats everything...fruits, veggies, meats etc. So my two year old is offered these things most meals..but he does not eat them. I always have to put foods I know he will eat on the plate as well or he will just refuse all together to eat and scream for yogurt.

The foods he currently eats - beans from the can w tomato sauce, turkey hotdogs, fish sticks, turkey or chicken nuggets. Lasagna with beef and pureed hidden veggies. Cashews and Pistachio (unsalted), EVERYTHING Dairy (cheese, milk, yogurts). Sausages, Pasta, brown rice pasta, french fries. Cereal (wheatbix and corn flakes). Fruit pouches. Sometimes he will accept a smoothie with fresh fruit and hidden veggies that I make. Peanut butter with bread. Turkey and humus sandwich. Vitamins. On occasion I make him freshly squeezed oj. Broccoli steamed on occasion (50/50 chance of eating when offered).

My concern is he is not eating any fresh fruits really (other then sometimes when he will accept a smoothie i make), not eat veggies other then broccoli or proper meats...other then beef in lasagna. He only will eat ready made meats or fish now :( I even tried making home made chicken tenders in oven, which were GREAT...but he refused to eat! He used to eat eggs, but now refuses!

Any tips on getting him to try fruits and veggies...other then just refusing to even taste? What age do kids start to outgrow this? How bad is it that he only wants ready made meats? I am worried he does not get enough nutrients.

Put it in front of him, take it away if not eaten. Repeat. Repeat. Do NOT give alternatives especially yoghurt. Keep this up for about a year. He'll get there!

Get the book " Getting the Little Blighters to Eat". DDs are older now and fussy, wish I'd read it years ago
