How soon is it supposed to kick in? Dd2 got given it on Thursday to help soften her stools as she's trying to stop herself from pooing as it hurts her. It's not worked yet so we still have her screaming etc whenever she's trying to stop herself from going. Can I up the dose of 2.5 or do I need to go back to the doctors.

Lactulose just softens the stools. If she's stopping herself going, that's a different issue which the Lactulose can't help with.

I'd go back to the GP rather than upping the dose.
