What is it with all these popularity threads all of a sudden? Do you know how offputting they are to newbies?

Everyone on Mumsnet gives brilliant advice, why single out an individual poster? Grrrrrr! Sorry, just a cliquey bugbear of mine and I needed to get that off my chest!

PetitFilou1 · 04/12/2006 14:49

Blimey, this was meant to be lighthearted! Sorry perhaps I shouldn't have started this - I'll get my coat....

This stupid, quite obviously it's VVVQueenVictoria

Rhubarb · 04/12/2006 15:09

Sorry, it's just that these threads do pop up every now and then and people see them as a popularity contest or a clique. One of the things my sister said when I was trying to persuade her to join Mumsnet for advice, was that it all seemed very cliquey and she was put off thinking that everyone would ignore her because she wasn't a "regular".

These threads used to be FastAsleep's little speciality didn't they?

QueenofMumsnet · 04/12/2006 15:11

you called?

ClementClarkeMoore · 04/12/2006 15:11

OO-er!

PetitFilou1 · 04/12/2006 15:22

Rhubarb actually I agree, it does feel cliquey on here sometimes and I was never one of those girls at school. I give people serious advice but I do like the bit of light relief the regulars give to it sometimes........ and you can narrow your eyes all you like as I can assure you I am not FastAsleep! And now .... talking of serious issues.....I am going back to my gold shoe thread (swishes hair with right hand and turns on heel)

Obviously it's me.

And perhaps I will change my name 5 or 6 times over the next few days and vote for myself repeatedly and then I can be in a clique of one! Yippee. Won't that be exciting for me?

PetitFilou1 · 04/12/2006 15:48

Anniemac, wasn't fawning, honest. Have sparred with Cod a few times in fact Now I am definitely off.....

BethleCAM · 04/12/2006 15:50

Don't worry petitfilou, you've just become a victim of C.O.D's mind control techniques

MrsArchieTheInventor · 04/12/2006 15:53

You've got me thinking about what to have for tea now. Cod and chips with mushy peas, mmmmmmmm!
